Barry James Allen

Barry James “BJ” Allen, 46, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 9, 2024.  He was born on October 16, 1977, in Indianapolis, to Barry Joseph and Saundra (Owens) Allen.  BJ attended Warren Central  High School and worked side by side for with his father in their family-owned construction company.  

BJ enjoyed time with family and friends and was loved by everyone he knew.  BJ had the most endearing smile, kindest of hearts and was devoted not only to his own family members but absolutely anyone he knew.   BJ and his dad often enjoyed playing their guitars together.  He had a special bond with “Lady”, his loyal and beloved 11-year-old German Shepard and adored playing with her, their long walks together, and feeding her many of her favorite treats.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James Odell Allen, Margaret Estella Evans (Smith), Anna Louise Owens (Magee) Dale Owens, Sr.

BJ is survived by his parents, mentioned above; Step-grandmother Della Maye Allen, daughter Mariah June Allen (Welcher), siblings, Marcella Ann Owens (Allen), Jennifer Estella Owens (Allen), Angela Ann Allen (Owens).

Nieces and nephews; Antonio (AJ) Joseph Owens, Anna Margaret Stockhoff, Mikala Lee Owens, Brandon Ryan Stockhoff, Lexi Kaye Welsh, Alaina Maye Welsh, Jason Joseph Welsh, and Wyatt Earl Welsh as well as seven (7) great nieces.

Aunts and Uncles; Jack Owens, Dale Owens, Tina Ward (Owens), Gary McCallister, Gloria Mannit (McCallister), Daniel McCallister, and Roger McCallister.

Along with many extended family and friends.  

The family has planned a “Celebration of Life” ceremony for BJ on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Louis J. Jenn Memorial Park., 10450 E 63^rd Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46236.

Cremation Arrangements provided by Legacy Cremation & Funeral Services – Lawrence.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
