Barbara Lumbis

Barbara Lumbis, age 71 passed away on May 3, 2024, in Indianapolis, IN. Barbara was born on January 29, 1953. She was known for her unwavering dedication to her students and the community she served.

A beloved history teacher in the Anderson School District for many years, Barbara's passion for education was truly remarkable. She touched the lives of countless individuals through her role as a history teacher. Her commitment to shaping young minds and instilling a love for learning will always be remembered by those she taught.

Outside of her career, Barbara was a kind and compassionate individual. Described as sweet, loving, caring, and funny, she brought joy to all who knew her. Barbara's vibrant personality shone through in everything she did, from spending time with friends and family to indulging in her hobbies like enjoying coffee and donuts, traveling, and crocheting.

One of Barbara's proudest accomplishments was her work at Connor Prairie, where she delighted visitors by dressing up as different characters. Her enthusiasm for bringing history to life was truly infectious. She was a proud member of Kingston Avenue Church and her dedication to her church will be remembered by many. 

Barbara will be deeply missed by her surviving family members and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, warmth, and dedication that will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Barbara is survived by her family Melinda Weaver (Danny), Donald Paul Lawson; Mickey Ray; Mary Alice; Donald Lee Lawson; and her many special and close friends at Kingston Avenue Church. 

In honoring Barbara Lumbis' memory, let us cherish the moments shared with her and carry forward the values she embodied - kindness, passion for learning, and a joyous spirit that brightened the lives of those around her. May she rest in peace knowing the profound impact she had on so many lives.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday May 14, 2024 from 11am-1pm with a funeral service beginning at 1pm at Legacy Cremation and Funeral Services - Anderson. A reception will follow at Kingston Avenue Church, Anderson, following the service.
