Barbara Jane Fobes

Barbara Jane Fobes, 95, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Fobes; her son Robert “Bob” Fobes; her daughter-in-law Nancy Fobes, and grandsons, Steven and Jon Fobes.

She is survived by her children Jack Fobes Jr., James (Teresa) Fobes, and Jeffery (Dawn Phelps) Fobes. She is also remembered by her daughter-in-law Karen Fobes, wife of her late son Bob. Barbara leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

A woman of deep faith, Barbara was a devoted member of Saint Lawrence Church, where she participated regularly and found comfort and community. She found great happiness in the outdoors—whether fishing, swimming, watching sports, and being social. She treasured the memory of her lifelong best friend, MaryLou Roberts, and the “Mermaids,” with whom she shared countless laughs and lunches. Above all, Barbara’s greatest love was her family. Time spent with them was her greatest blessing, and her warmth, strength, and kindness will be remembered always.

Barbara’s life will be celebrated at Legacy Funeral Home, 5215 N. Shadeland Ave on October 1 from 4 to 7 PM. A mass in her honor will be held at St. Lawrence Church across from Legacy on October 2 at 10:00 AM. Burial services will be held immediately after the mass, along with a gathering at her home.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her and that her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
