Barbara Pauline Eldridge, 90, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1936, in Sullivan, Indiana, to the late Orien and Ruby (Cox) Williams.
At a young age, Barbara moved with her family to Anderson, Indiana, where she spent most of her life. She attended Anderson High School, where she met the love of her life, Lee Eldridge. The couple married on October 5, 1952, when Barbara was just 16 years old, beginning a remarkable love story that would span more than 73½ years. Their marriage was marked by an extraordinary bond, deep devotion, and unwavering companionship. Following their marriage, Lee joined the United States Navy, and they lived for a time in Norfolk, Virginia.
Barbara was a devoted wife, loving mother, and wonderful homemaker. She found great joy in caring for her family, preparing delicious meals, and bringing loved ones together around the table during holidays and special occasions. Family was the center of her life, and she treasured every opportunity to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Barbara will be remembered for her generous heart, her loving nature, and her sense of fun. One of her family's cherished memories is of Barbara opening her Bible and asking, “Do you need money?”—a simple yet powerful reflection of her faith, kindness, and desire to help others. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did.
She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 73½ years, Lee Eldridge; her sons, James Eldridge and Michael (Amy) Eldridge; and her daughter, Janice Mudd; brother Larry Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orien and Ruby (Cox) Williams; her brothers, Harry Williams, Charles Williams, and Robert Williams; and her sister, Marilyn Purciful.
Barbara's final words beautifully reflected the love she carried throughout her life: “Tell all my family I love them.”
Her family takes comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, faith, generosity, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the extraordinary care Barbara received from Northview Health and Living and Community Hospice.
