Barbara Ann Adams, known affectionately to her family as "Granny Goat," passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at the age of 80. A woman of steady devotion, quiet talent, and immense heart, Barbara’s life was a testament to the beauty of hard work and the enduring strength of family.
Born in 1945, Barbara was a proud graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School. She was a woman of remarkable work ethic, dedicating 32 years to RCA and an additional 10 years to Von Duprin before her retirement.
While her professional life was defined by reliability, her personal life was defined by a profound, lifelong love. She was the devoted wife of Larry Adams for 56 years and 8 months—a partnership built on a lifetime of shared memories, laughter, and unwavering support.
Barbara’s hands were rarely still. She was a gifted quilter and enjoyed crochet, meticulously creating warmth and beauty for her family through her crafts. Above all, her greatest joy was her role as a matriarch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Arvin Sumner, and her brothers, Johnny and David. Barbara's memory will be carried forward by those who survive her including her husband, Larry Adams; her children: Kelly (Adams) Lucarelli and husband Paul; James Adams and wife Katie. "Granny Goat" will be especially missed by her grandchildren: Megan Adams Dowell (born 1990), Rae Lucarelli (born 1993), and Paige Adams (born 1996); and her great-grandchild, Jaxon Adams-Dowell.
In accordance with Barbara's final wishes, a formal funeral service will not be held. Her family will gather at a later date to celebrate her life and the 80 years of love she gave to the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Life's Journey Hospice located in Avon, Indiana.
