Ava Jo Davis

Ava Jo Davis, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born on March 25, 1937 in Fort Blackmore, VA to the late Clyde and Nancy Collett (Begley). She worked as a school bus driver in Sarasota, Florida, until she retired and relocated back to Virginia. There she enjoyed time with her life partner Howard “Bill” Hartle and was very much loved by all of her neighbors and friends that considered her family in their small community. Ava loved her cats and was known to be a firecracker that made people smile. She very much enjoyed coloring and displaying her art for others to see & talking on the phone several times a day with her long time friend, Gerry Kinney. She is preceded in death by her parents listed above, brother Jim Collett, sister Margaret Pannell, her grandson Brian Keith Bowen Jr., and her life partner Bill whom passed away in 2019. Ava is survived by her sister Faye Russell, daughter Ronda Bowen (Brian Bowen Sr.), daughter, Leann Christman (Nicholas Christman), grandchildren Jaclyn Miller and Nicole Christman; and great granddaughter Hailey Miller. Ava was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
